Publication Ethics

American Journal of Social Issues and Humanities (AJSIH) in the bid to maintain standard, adopts the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), guidelines on publication ethics.

Authors Contributing to AJSIH must observe the following:

  1. Manuscripts for submission must be original work of the author(s).
  2. Manuscripts for submission must be previously unpublished.
  3. Author(s) should not submit one manuscript to more than one journal at a time.
  4. Author(s) must state unequivocally any conflict of interest in the manuscript.
  5. Author(s) must acknowledge the sources of data used in the manuscript very clearly.
  6. Author(s) must communicate any error discovered in manuscript submitted swiftly.
  7. Plagiarism must be avoided at all cost.

Reviewers for this Journal must observe the following:

  1. This journal does not accept any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or political affiliation of the author. All manuscripts should be reviewed fairly based on the intellectual content.
  2. Reviewers must report any conflict of interest during review process to the Editor.
  3. Confidentiality is a serious issue in review. The reviewers must maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to the manuscript.
  4. Any reason for rejection or acceptance of manuscript(s) must be communicated the Editor.
  5. Reviewers should not use manuscripts sent to them for any other reason except the purpose for which it was meant.
  6. Reviewers must respond in a reasonable time frame especially if they cannot review.
  7. Reviewers must declare if they have the subject expertise required to carry out the review.
  8. Reviewers must accept to review a manuscript if they are confident they can return the review within the agreed time or inform the journal if they require an extension.

Editors of this Journal must confirm the following:

  5. Based on reviewers’ evaluation of manuscripts, it is the responsibility of the Editorial Board to make publication decision for manuscripts submitted for publication in AJSIH, considering the following: policies of the journal, legal restraints on plagiarism, copyright infringement.

American Journal of Social Issues and Humanities (AJSIH), strives to,

  1. Ensure that the journal policies are reviewed periodically, to maintain international standard best practices.
  2. Maintain the integrity of academic record and provide for the archival of published manuscripts.
  3. Protect intellectual property and copyright.
  4. Foster editorial independence among editors and reviewers.
  5. Respect privacy for research participants, authors and peer reviewers.
  6. Publish corrections, clarifications, and retractions
  7. Publish content on a timely basis.
